Schools across the United States are seeing growing numbers of children with disabilities.
Did You Know?
PEW Research has stated: Nearly 7 million disabled students in the US make up 14 % of national public school enrollment according to the data from the National Center for Education Statistics. Which has grown from 11% between 2000-2001.
The 14% came from statistics from 2017-2018.
With growing numbers should also come a change in the ADA Act to include that all playgrounds should have at least 20-25% of their playground equipment be ADA Accessible or made specifically for disabilities.
In 2010, there was an ADA revision to include ADA accessible access points into and out of public areas including facilities, swimming pools, etc. They gave 2 years to make necessary changes.
With help from the public and senators we can make it to where children with disabilities have the equal ability to play with their peers which will help them learn and grow. Not sit to the side and watch their peers play because they cannot be a part of the playground or go on equipment due to lack of accessible playground equipment and equipment for other impairments such as the deaf and blind.
Help us change the way we look at disabilities and let no child be left behind. Because EVERY child deserves the equal right to learn, grow, and play.
