Each member of our board here at MEC Disabilities has a connection with a child with disabilities and loves to help others.
We strive to accept as many applications for equipment as we can.
What makes MEC Disabilities unique is our deep connection to the community we serve. As an organization founded and run by parents of children with disabilities, we understand firsthand the challenges and obstacles faced by individuals and families.
This personal experience allows us to provide a level of empathy, understanding, and support that is unparalleled.
Our unique perspective drives us to go above and beyond in assisting families who need our help. We are committed to offering comprehensive resources and support to every family that reaches out to us. Whether it's providing accessible sensory spaces,
advocating for insurance coverage of adaptive equipment, facilitating support groups,
hosting educational workshops, or engaging in community outreach, we strive to give every family the utmost support
and resources they need to thrive. Offering practical advice, guidance, and empathy to families in similar situations.
We believe that by sharing our experiences and supporting one another, we can create a stronger and more resilient community.
Ultimately, what sets us apart is that we understand the unique needs and aspirations of this community because we have lived it ourselves.
Through our personal connection, we can provide the understanding, support, and resources needed to foster a more inclusive society
where every individual can achieve their full potential. As a Non profit organization, we can only do that
thanks to our amazing sponsors, donors, and volunteers. It's not just families we've helped that say we are one of the best charities.

Nikki Sanger our Founder and President started MEC Disabilities because she saw many things that needed to change in the world of childhood disabilities through her daughter Evelyn, who has cerebral palsy. The lack of ADA playground equipment at schools and public playgrounds was a huge awakening when covid-19 hit and places were shut down to in person appointments such as therapy offices. So, Nikki began her journey in creating a board that would help bring her vision of equality for children with disabilities. Because every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn, grow, and play. From there came MEC Disabilities a 501(c)(3) Non profit where we MOTIVATE, ELEVATE, and CELEBRATE disabilities. We strive to be amongst the best charities in the nation.
Our determination is not merely a buzzword; it is a core value that guides our actions and decisions. We are committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families, and we will continue to show our grit and determination as we work towards a more inclusive society.
Our primary mission is to bridge the gap and empower individuals with disabilities by offering accessible sensory spaces, advocacy for insurance coverage of adaptive equipment, support groups, educational workshops, and community outreach events. Through these initiatives, we aim to foster a culture of acceptance, understanding, and inclusion, ensuring that every individual has equal opportunities regardless of their abilities.
Our vision is to empower individuals with disabilities, creating a more inclusive tomorrow where they have equal access to opportunities, resources, and support. We envision a society that celebrates diversity and dismantles barriers, allowing individuals with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of the community.
We will have a meet and talk once a month at Rogue Roasters in Grants Pass, OR.

MEC Disabilities specializes in Inclusive Business Development & Consulting, offering tailored solutions to businesses aiming to improve their inclusion strategies. Under the leadership of Nikki Sanger, the U.S.'s leading inclusion expert, the nonprofit provides comprehensive services that guide organizations through the process of creating inclusive and accessible environments.
These services include:
“We work collaboratively with businesses to identify gaps in their inclusion efforts and implement sustainable strategies,” says Nikki Sanger. “Our goal is to not only help organizations meet legal requirements but to position them as leaders in social responsibility and accessibility.”
MEC Disabilities’ business consulting services have already helped numerous organizations across the U.S. enhance their physical and digital spaces, transforming them into more welcoming environments for individuals with disabilities.
As part of their commitment to accessibility, MEC Disabilities celebrated the one-year anniversary of its groundbreaking sensory space in 2024. This project serves as a model for schools, businesses, and community organizations that seek to accommodate individuals with sensory sensitivities. The sensory space provides a safe, calming environment for children and adults with disabilities, enabling them to engage without feeling overwhelmed.
In addition to showcasing the sensory space, MEC Disabilities offers consulting services to help other organizations design and implement similar environments, ensuring more inclusive public and private settings nationwide.
“Our sensory space is a tangible example of how small adjustments to an environment can have a profound impact on individuals with disabilities,” Sanger explains. “It’s not just about meeting standards—it’s about creating places where everyone feels comfortable and valued.”
A key pillar of MEC Disabilities’ mission is advocating for children and young adults (21 years and younger) who are often denied essential adaptive equipment by insurance providers. MEC Disabilities helps families access mobility aids, communication devices, and other vital tools that are critical to the independence and quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
“Navigating the healthcare system to get the necessary equipment can be overwhelming for families,” says Sanger. “We step in to advocate on their behalf, ensuring no child is left without the tools they need to succeed.”
MEC Disabilities works directly with families, medical professionals, and policymakers to secure the needed resources, empowering families to navigate complex healthcare systems and advocating for regulatory changes that improve access to essential equipment.
Beyond business consulting and advocacy, MEC Disabilities is dedicated to educating communities about the importance of inclusivity. Through workshops, conferences, and school collaborations, Nikki Sanger and her team work tirelessly to promote disability rights and encourage systemic changes that improve accessibility.
MEC Disabilities also supports educators and administrators by providing resources and tools to help create inclusive classrooms. Sanger’s commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of disability rights among the next generation ensures that accessibility and inclusion are not just goals but become embedded values within communities.
In addition to her work at MEC Disabilities, Sanger is set to release two books early next year that focus on inclusion strategies for organizations and individuals. Her experience as both a parent of a child with special needs and a recognized inclusion specialist uniquely positions her as an authority on the subject.
In 2024, MEC Disabilities was honored with the Storyteller of the Year award through OneCause, recognizing Nikki Sanger’s exceptional ability to communicate the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. Sanger’s storytelling elevates the voices of families like hers, bringing attention to the systemic issues surrounding disability and inclusion.
“We’re not just providing services—we’re changing the way people think about inclusion,” Sanger says. “Through advocacy, education, and storytelling, we’re driving lasting change.”
